    BAUMA 2010

New Farymann multiple - cylinder diesel engines

The BAUMA 2010 was a complete success for the Greaves Farymann Diesel GmbH.

The number of visitors of the exhibition was lower than on the last Bauma in 2007. But on the stall of Greaves Farymann were to be determined a very pleasing feedback and interest, due to the new presented products.

The stall of Greaves Farymann showed in professional way, the new justification and enhanced product range of the manufacturer of diesel engines from Lampertheim in Hessen.

Especially positive was the interest of some large OEM’s in the new products as well as in the Farymann Diesel engines, which are already known and well-proven in the market.

A water-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine was presented. This new diesel engine represents in consequence of its around 15° from the horizontal inclined cylinder, a very flat and compact driving motor for different industrial applications. The engine with the designation 55 W has a displacement of 902 ccm and performs a continuous power at 14 KW @ for 3000 1/min.

Furthermore a water-cooled four-cylinder diesel engine of the model ranges 275 WT/A was shown. It concerns here about a 4.5 liter engine, which is conceived particularly for applications with constant rotational speed. It is available in two versions with 55 and 74.9 KW of continuous power and can be operated with 1500 and/or 1800 1/min. The engine fulfills the current emission instructions EU RL 97/68 EEC stage II and will also fulfill future appropriate requirements.

Further details about the engines are available on our homepage, under the category download area, product brochures.

Successful start of the project “Generators for fire trucks”

The lights are green! In a co-operation with our partner Farymann America and C.E. Niehoff & Co., the project “Generators for Fire Service Vehicles” was successfully initiated in May 2008. Following an intensive planning and development phase, the first vehicles have been equipped with our 43F engine and are performing well in the field.

Many pieces of equipment used by the fire service today are powered electrically. One needs only to think of all the rescue equipment (such as spreaders or cutters; suction equipment, and even the spotlights used for illumination) to realize that response to an emergency cannot be handled effectively without portable electricity.

The successful and cost-effective completion of national and international projects is ensured by the corresponding wealth of experience of our employees in project business. The results achieved in this project will therefore be developed further, in the course of subsequent projects with OEM’s, into marketable series-production products. The demand for stationery and mobile generators is also bound to increase due to the increasing worldwide energy requirements. We also anticipate further growth from the development of business in tailor-made customer solutions and intensification of our complete after-sales activities. In addition to the confidence in our technical expertise, on the basis of successful partnerships is thorough and comprehensive customer service. We are making every effort to continually improve the service level for our customers, because customer satisfaction is the highest measure of our success.

The long-established relationship with our customers is one of our most important success factors. Our customers greatly appreciate our flexibility and excellent customer service. Staying close to the customer remains our greatest strength.

Farymann 18B diesel engines “below ground”

Diesel engines are today still almost irreplaceable in tunnel construction and mining applications.
The firm of IOW in Legnica, Poland, is known for its permanent commitment to supplying specific customer products which are tailor-made to customer requirements in the field of mining.

The starting signal for the new “Compressor” project was given on 14.05.2007 in the copper mine of KGHM Polska Miedz in Lubin. The objective of the project, directed by the firm of IOW, was to offer customers an individual, tailor-made solution for a compressor for work below ground. Following the design and a test phase lasting several months, the project was successfully concluded on 21.02.2008. The first compressors equipped with our Farymann 18B engines have already been delivered and successfully commissioned.

“The satisfaction of our customers is the focal point of our activities. Downtimes are extremely costly, since a fault with a machine can lead to a production stoppage in mining. The service-friendly design of our compressors reduces the maintenance requirement to the absolute minimum. With proper training, documentation and user-friendly application, our customers draw the maximum benefits from our equipment. We are particularly proud of the fact that our compressors have been approved for use in mines without firedamp. Thanks to the success of this project, further projects are already in the implementation phase in lead mines, salt mines and quarries”, reports Mr. Andrzej Karpiak, President of IOW Legnica, Poland.

Greaves Farymann Diesel supports its customers worldwide. Our aim is to offer diesel engines and corresponding service of maximum quality and reliability worldwide, which facilitate the work of our customers and increase their productivity. We help our customers to be more successful.

    “Danube Lock” project successfully completed

The project was launched in September 2007, when our partner K & W Drive Systems, Vienna, and the company BEDEK, St. Andrae-Woerdern, joined forces to form a project team with the task to develop a tailor-made solution for the lock of the Vienna Danube Canal in Nussdorf. Now, our Farymann 43F engine is serving as drive unit of a hydraulic pump to ensure that the lock’s gates can be opened and closed at any time – even in the event of a power failure or high water.

“We were having busy and challenging months since September 2007. Good service, reliability and capability to deliver are matters of course for our company. We therefore ensure that our operations and business processes always comply with the expectations and requirements of our customers,” explained Harald Knopf, Managing Director of K & W Drive Systems. After the successful completion of this project, there are now several subsequent projects entering their implementation phase.

Always in line with customers and their requirements - Greaves Farymann Diesel once more impressively proved that this is the key to success.
